Can Sensitive Skin Use Vitamin C?

Can Sensitive Skin Use Vitamin C?

A Founder’s Guide to Getting the Glow Without the Sting

The short answer: Yes!

Vitamin C is one of the most loved ingredients in skincare — and for good reason. It can help brighten dull skin, support a more even-looking skin tone, and provide antioxidant benefits.

But if you have sensitive skin, you may have had a very different experience with it.

I know I did.

As someone who has lived with sensitive skin for years, I’ve always wanted the brightening benefits of Vitamin C. But when my skin barrier was compromised or particularly reactive, products with pure Vitamin C could sometimes leave my skin feeling tingly, warm, or even uncomfortably stinging.

It left me wondering:

Do people with sensitive skin simply have to give up on Vitamin C?

When I created Lolovegan, my answer was no.

The question isn’t necessarily whether sensitive skin can use Vitamin C. It’s about finding the right formula — and introducing it to your skin thoughtfully.

Why Can Vitamin C Sting Sensitive Skin?

Pure Vitamin C, or L-ascorbic acid, is a powerful antioxidant and brightening ingredient. But it can also be unstable and is often formulated at an acidic pH.

For sensitive or compromised skin, that can sometimes mean tingling, stinging, or irritation.

That doesn’t mean Vitamin C is off-limits. It simply means that formulation matters — especially for sensitive skin.

A Different Approach to Vitamin C

When developing Vita Glow Serum, I didn’t want to simply chase a high Vitamin C percentage.

Instead, we combined pure Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) with Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, a stable, oil-soluble Vitamin C derivative.

The idea was simple: to find a better balance between efficacy, stability, and skin comfort, so Vitamin C could become part of an everyday skincare routine.

We also added 2% Niacinamide to support brighter, more even-looking skin, alongside hydrating ingredients to keep the formula lightweight and comfortable.

It reflects what we believe at Lolovegan: Safe Efficacy.

So, Can Sensitive Skin Use Vitamin C?

Yes.

But if you have sensitive skin, you don’t necessarily need the strongest Vitamin C serum you can find.

Instead, look at the formula as a whole. A thoughtfully formulated serum that combines complementary brightening and hydrating ingredients may be a better choice for consistent use.

And consistency matters.

If your skin is highly reactive, start slowly — a few times a week — and increase as your skin becomes comfortable. If your skin barrier is already irritated or compromised, focus on hydration and barrier care first before introducing active ingredients again.

Brightening, Made for Everyday

Having sensitive skin was one of the reasons I created Lolovegan. I wanted skincare that didn’t make me choose between being gentle to my skin and seeing visible results.

That philosophy became Safe Efficacy — and it’s the thinking behind Vita Glow Serum.

Because sensitive skin doesn’t mean giving up on Vitamin C.

It means finding a formula your skin actually wants to keep using.
