At Lolovegan, we choose fragrance-free skincare with sensitive skin in mind. We want each formula to focus on what your skin needs, without adding fragrance just for scent.
Fragrance is not a problem for everyone, and fragrance-free does not automatically mean gentle. For us, leaving it out is one part of a thoughtful approach to everyday skincare.
Here’s why we make that choice—and what fragrance-free really means.
Why Choose Fragrance-Free Skincare for Sensitive Skin?
When your skin reacts easily, choosing skincare can take a little more care. You may pay closer attention to how a product feels, what it contains, and whether it leaves your skin comfortable after use.
Some people use fragranced skincare without any problems. Others find that certain fragrance ingredients irritate their skin or cause an allergic reaction.
Choosing fragrance-free skincare can help you avoid this possible source of irritation. It does not guarantee that a product will suit your skin, but it can be a useful starting point.
At Lolovegan, we ask a simple question: if an ingredient is added only for scent, does it need to be there?
For our formulas, we choose to leave it out.
Fragrance-Free vs. Unscented: What’s the Difference?
These terms sound similar, but they do not necessarily mean the same thing.
Fragrance-free generally means that ingredients have not been added to give the product a fragrance. The formula may still have a natural scent from its ingredients.
Unscented means the product is intended to have little or no noticeable smell. Some unscented products may contain fragrance ingredients that help cover the smell of other ingredients.
The key point: fragrance-free does not always mean scent-free.
If you know that you react to a particular ingredient, check the full ingredient list rather than relying only on the wording on the front of the packaging.
Why Can Fragrance-Free Skincare Still Have a Scent?
Skincare ingredients can have their own scent, even when no fragrance has been added.
A subtle smell does not necessarily mean that a product contains added perfume. It may simply come from the ingredients used in the formula.
We experienced this firsthand while developing our Baku Firming Serum.
What We Learned While Developing Our Baku Firming Serum
During development, we tried several formulas, including samples with 5% bakuchiol. In our own testing, we noticed a slight stinging sensation when first applying those samples, along with a stronger scent from the bakuchiol.
We kept refining the formula, considering its texture, its natural scent, and how comfortable it felt on the skin.
We chose 1% bakuchiol for the final Baku Firming Serum. We did not add fragrance to cover the scent of the ingredients.
These observations came from our own development process. They guided our choices for this formula, rather than telling us how everyone’s skin would respond to a particular concentration.
For us, this reflects what we mean by “Safe Efficacy”: thoughtfully balancing skincare benefits with comfort in everyday use.
Does Fragrance-Free Always Mean Gentle?
No. Fragrance-free describes one aspect of a product, not the whole formula.
Your skin may respond differently to particular ingredients or concentrations, even when a product contains no added fragrance.
That is why we consider more than what we leave out. We also think about how the ingredients work together, how the formula feels, and how it fits into an everyday routine.
Fragrance-free is one of our formulation choices—not a promise that every product will suit every person.
What Should You Look for When Choosing Fragrance-Free Skincare?
Read Beyond the Front Label
Look at the full ingredient list as well as the product description. If you already know that an ingredient causes your skin to react, check for it specifically.
Choose Products That Fit Your Skin’s Needs
Think about what you want from your routine, whether that is cleansing, hydration, brightening, or firming. Fragrance-free can be part of that choice, alongside the overall formula and how your skin responds.
Introduce New Products Gradually
Try a new product on a small area before using it more widely, and introduce one new product at a time. This can make it easier to notice how your skin responds.
A small-area trial cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur. If irritation keeps returning or you are unsure what is causing it, a dermatologist can help.
The Lolovegan Approach: Fragrance-Free by Design
Every Lolovegan skincare formula is fragrance-free. This is one of the choices we make with sensitive skin in mind.
Our products may have a subtle scent from their ingredients. We choose not to cover it with added fragrance.
For us, thoughtful skincare means choosing each ingredient with care—and having a clear reason for including it.
Everyday care, considered.
